Allow the OysterVPN browser extension in the Incognito mode

Last Updated: October 6, 2021

In many cases, Incognito or Private Browsing mode is pretty useful, enabling you to use your browser without previously saved data, such as cache and preferences. Unfortunately, most browser extensions will not work in Incognito or Private Browsing mode. In addition, most wings have this feature turned off by default, so you might need to enable it manually.

To get started with the process, you’ll need an active OysterVPN subscription; if you don’t already have a subscription, click here to subscribe along with OysterVPN’s extension for Chrome or Firefox.

Google Chrome

  1. The OysterVPN icon should appear in the top-right corner of your browser if you have the OysterVPN browser extension installed.
  2. When you enter Incognito mode, this icon vanishes.
  3. Navigate to More tools > Extensions after clicking the three dots.
  4. On that page, you’ll discover a list of all the extensions that have been installed.
  5. Select OysterVPN from the drop-down menu and select Details.
  6. Allow incognito mode to be enabled.
  7. By pressing CTRL+SHIFT+N at the same time on your Chrome browser, you can safely enter Incognito mode using the OysterVPN browser extension.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. The OysterVPN icon should appear in the top-right corner of your browser if you have the OysterVPN browser extension installed.
  2. When you go to Private Browsing mode, this icon vanishes.
  3. Navigate to Add-ons in the settings menu. The OysterVPN add-on can be found there.
  4. Select Manage from the three-dot menu.
  5. There is an option to run in Private Windows.
  6. Then select Allow and hit CTRL+SHIFT+P at the same time on your Firefox browser; you may rapidly activate Private Browsing mode.
  7. Congratulations, allow the OysterVPN browser extension in both Incognito and Private Browsing modes!
