Verify the PIN
The “invalid PIN” problem, as well as the majority of connection and speed issues on FireOS devices, can be resolved by removing the cache and data from the OysterVPN VPN application. Start with cleaning the cache and data on your Fire TV/Fire Stick; here’s how you can do it:
- Select Settings from the Home button.
- Then go to Applications from the Settings menu.
- Select Manage Installed Applications from the Applications menu.
- Locate the OysterVPN software and press Force Stop.
- Now click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.
- Go to Settings, click on Device, and then click on Restart.
- Now your Fire Stick will restart. Following these procedures should result in a new PIN that you can verify in the OysterVPN account.
- After validating the PIN, make sure you press “validate” on the Fire TV Stick.
Switch between TCP and UDP
Toggle the Use TCP option on or off in the app’s settings (top right gear icon).
Modify the network
If you’re having problems connecting to OysterVPN on your Fire Stick or Fire TV, first verify your network connection and wireless signal strength. We recommend keeping your Fire Stick/Fire TV in the same room as your Wi-Fi access point and testing over a wired connection if you’re using a Fire TV.
Uninstall and reinstall the VPN application
- Restart your Device, uninstall the application and then reinstall it. Then try to connect once more.
- Restart your Fire TV device and any other home networking equipment such as modems or routers.
- From the menu, restart your Device.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Choose My Fire TV, then Restart. If your network isn’t working properly, reboot your router and modem.
- Disconnect your router and modem.
- Re-plug it and re-test it after 30 seconds.
