How To Set Up OysterVPN on TP-Link Router

This tutorial will show you how to use the PPTP Protocol to connect your TP-Link Router to OysterVPN. You’ll need a TP-Link Router and an active OysterVPN subscription to begin the setup process. If you don’t currently have a subscription, click here to do so.

  1. Enter your router’s IP address in the search box of your web browser to access the Web Configuration Panel of your router.
  2. The default IP address for accessing the router is usually 168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. It will prompt you for the Username and Password for your router. The router’s username and password are both admins by default.
  3. Click “Login” after entering this information. You can also find login credentials for the router in the device’s user manual.
  4. Select “WAN” from the “Network” menu. (If none of these options appear, go to “Internet” and select “Basic.”)
  5. Now fill in the following details:
    • WAN Connection Type: PPTP/Canada PPTP
    • Enter your OysterVPN “Username” and “Password.”
    • Dynamic IP: Enable
    • Service IP Address/Name: Enter your desired PPTP VPN server address. In this case, the Australia server address can prove to be the best source. Please click here to visit OysterVPN Complete PPTP server list.
    • WAN Connection Mode: Choose whether you would like to reconnect manually, on-demand, or always.
    • Click on the “Save” button.
    • Then click on “Connect.”
  6. The connection status will soon change to “Connected!
  7. In Primary and Secondary DNS, add OysterVPN’s DNS addresses 10.8.8.8 and 10.9.9.9, respectively.
  8. Then click “Save” and reconnect to the VPN.
  9. If these options don’t work, try adding Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, or alternative DNS names like 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
  10. That’s it! You’ve completed the installation and configuration of OysterVPN on TP-Link Router using PPTP protocol.
