Experiment with different server locations

One place may provide a more stable connection than others due to various variables. First, restart your computer or device. Occasionally, simply restarting your smartphone will solve the problem.

Change the default protocol

  1. Go to your OysterVPN’s app Settings page and scroll down until you locate the Protocol setting.
  2. The protocol should be set to Automatic by default.
  3. Change it to OpenVPN (UDP) from Automatic, then connect to one of the servers and test the speed again.
  4. If OpenVPN (UDP) isn’t working, try the IKEv2 protocol.

Uninstall the application and reinstall it

Uninstall the application, restart your device, and then reinstall it. Then try to connect it again.

Disable any interfering applications that may cause problems right away

Certain programs that access your device’s network may interfere with OysterVPN’s connection. For example, a firewall, antivirus, or anti-spyware program may be blocking your VPN connection.

Remove any security or parental controls that your router may have

Some ISPs have parental and security controls set by default on their routers. Check the “Security” tab on your router to determine whether any security features or parental controls are enabled.
