How To Set Up OpenVPN on Android

The OpenVPN protocol for Android devices is not included in the Android operating system. Here’s how you can set up OpenVPN on Android using OysterVPN:

  1. From the Google Play Store, download and install the OpenVPN Connect app.
  2. Download OysterVPN’s OpenVPN TCP and UDP config files from here.
  3. Select the OysterVPN config files zip folder from your phone’s Downloads. This folder should be unzipped/extracted.
  4. Open the OpenVPN Connect App you downloaded.
  5. Now go to the File tab.
  6. Locate the TCP or UDP files, depending on which protocol you wish to connect.
  7. Choose your preferred server from the drop-down menu.
  8. Then click on Import in the top-right corner and take the following steps:- Enter something like “USA-Atlanta-TCP” as a title. Enter your username and password for OysterVPN. If you want the password saved for this specific server, check the box next to Save password.
  9. At the top-right of the screen, tap “Add.”
  10. A connection request will appear; hit “OK.”
  11. Tap on the “Continue” button, and you will be connected in a few moments.
