How to share a VPN connection through Windows using an Ethernet cable?

This tutorial will show you how to share a VPN connection through Windows using an Ethernet cable, allowing you to use an encrypted OysterVPN connection to the Internet with various devices on your local network, even if those devices don’t generally allow VPN connections.

To get started with the setup process, you’ll need a Windows computer, two Ethernet cables, an OysterVPN app, and an active OysterVPN subscription. If you don’t already have a subscription, click here to subscribe.

STEP #1 Go to your windows toolbar and right-click on your Wi-Fi icon.

STEP #2 If you are using Wi-Fi, then hit the Wi-Fi tab, OR

STEP #3 If you are connected via Ethernet cable, hit the Ethernet cable.

STEP #4 Scroll down to click on the Change adaptor option here.

STEP #5 Here, a window will show a list of adaptor networks.

STEP #6 Here, click on Ethernet 2.

STEP #7 If you are connected using Wi-Fi, your network adapter will be Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet 2.

Configure The VPN Adaptor

STEP #1 Right-click on the Ethernet 2 and scroll down to hit Properties.

STEP #2 A pop-up window will appear here; click on Sharing

STEP #3 Checkmark the first option (Allow other network users to…)

STEP #4 Now, it will show you a drop-down menu here; choose Ethernet.

STEP #5 Once you are done, now click on Ok

Connect To OysterVPN

STEP #1 Launch the OysterVPN app and proceed to Settings -> Advanced -> Protocol and change the default protocol to OpenVPN (UDP).

STEP #2 Now connect your device to the desired location

STEP #3 Now connect your Ethernet cable from PC to any other device, whether a gaming console or any other device.

STEP #4 Now, you can change the VPN server location using the OysterVPN server list from your windows computer.

STEP #5 Finally, you have successfully configured a shared VPN connection on your device using an Ethernet cable.
