How to share a VPN connection through Windows using an Ethernet cable?

You can share an encrypted OysterVPN internet connection with various devices on your local network, even if those devices don’t generally allow VPN connections. This tutorial will show you how to share a VPN connection through Windows using an Ethernet cable,

To get started with the setup process, you’ll need a Windows computer, two Ethernet cables, the OysterVPN app, and an active OysterVPN subscription. If you don’t already have a subscription, click here to subscribe.

  1. Go to the Windows toolbar and right-click on the Wi-Fi icon.
  2. If you are using Wi-Fi, then click on the Wi-Fi tab, OR
  3. If you are connected via an Ethernet cable, click on the Ethernet cable icon on the systems tray.
  4. Scroll down to click on the Change adaptor option here.
  5. Here, a window will show a list of adaptor networks.
  6. Click on Ethernet 2.
  7. If you are connected using Wi-Fi, your network adapter will be Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet 2.
  8. Configure The VPN Adaptor.
  9. Right-click on Ethernet 2 and scroll down to hit Properties.
  10. A pop-up window will appear here; click on Sharing.
  11. Checkmark the first option “Allow other network users to…
  12. A drop-down menu will appear; choose Ethernet.
  13. Once you are done, click OK.

Connect To OysterVPN

  1. Launch the OysterVPN app, proceed to Settings > Advanced > Protocol, and change the default protocol to OpenVPN (UDP).
  2. Connect your device to the desired location
  3. Connect your Ethernet cable from your PC to any other device, such as a gaming console.
  4. Now, you can change the VPN server location from your Windows computer using the OysterVPN server list.
  5. You have successfully configured a shared VPN connection on your device using an Ethernet cable.
